Journalism and Mass Cummunication at MBMC

Background
With unprecedented proliferation of information and communication technology and innovations in media, the scope and importance of the mass media are only growing. Since the invention of printing press in the 15th century, media development has come a long way and so has the need for qualified, skilled and competent human resources immensely increased in the global media market. In Nepal too, with the remarkable feat in the proliferation of local FM stations across the country and the rise of numerous national and local television channels, the scope for qualified and skilled human resources has only increased. With an objective of providing quality education and equip the students with theoretical as well as practical knowledge, Madan Bhandari Memorial College has been running MA in Journalism and Mass Communication. This Tribhuvan University affiliated program is expected to be instrumental in producing academically and professionally sound human resources which the present day media landscape and the mass media support systems are eyeing for.

MBMC's Glorious trackrecord in Journalism education
MBM College is a community run well known educational institution dedicated to the quality education and social service. The young, dynamic, qualified, trained and result-oriented faculties, with proper instructions and guidance of senior and experienced scholars are involved in the college.
+2 and BA in journalism and Mass Communication are our very successful programs. Its products have now been shouldering journalistic responsibilities in reputed media houses including BBC. Similarly, they have been performing well in the fields of media research and media education.

MBM College is providing Journalism and Mass Communication students with plenty of platforms.  The College owns a Radio Station - Mero FM (93.5 Mhz), a college-based community radio which can be heard in and around Kathmandu. This radio has become a platform for students who want to sharpen their knowledge and skills in the field of radio broadcasting. A good number of students are now producing radio programs which have been going on air.

Communication study center (CSC), an academic wing of MBM College, is very much dedicated to the activities that explore the potentials of the students. For the last five years, CSC has been facilitating Journalism and Mass Communication students to equip them with knowledge and skills. It organizes different events such as interaction programs with media experts, film screening, news-writing competition etc. CSC has been regularly publishing a quarterly news-bulletin MBM Newsletter and an annual peer-reviewed journal "MBM Anthology". This is the student led organization with cooperation from the college administration and the department of journalism and mass communication. The main aim of CSC is to provide opportunities to the students, which helps them to be saleable in the market.
